Here's a video explaining how to set up a free RSS Feed for SEC Filings. It's very helpful to get real-time (or close to real-time) desktop notifications of SEC Filings from companies you are watching during the day. Below are the two links/websites I mention in the video. There are obviously other options that you can pay for, but this is a great alternative for free.

Also, HERE is a list of the most common filings, and below that is a list of all SEC filing types with descriptions of what they are. The most important filings for my trading purpose are the S- (or F- for foreign stocks), 424b, and 8-K, as those are the forms associated with a stock filing for an offering.
